Fantastic Fall Football!

Hey boys and girls!

Today I had an awesome afternoon watching fantastic fall football. I first thought the weather would be bad when the lightning kept winking at us, but it decided to take a nap during the games. I was tickled pink to watch my wonderful students run like cheetahs and chase down the other team. They all played hard and I am super proud of them. I hate that the score didn't go our way, but it was fun watching. I especially liked seeing them after the game....they were as dirty as little pigs. I will come watch again soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Can you find the figurative language in my post?

Personification

Hello wonderful students!
Today we learned about personification. Personification is when a writer gives human qualities to something that is not human. For example, I could say that the leaves on a tree danced to the ground. Can leaves dance? No, humans dance. This means that the leaves fell to the ground, but I personified the leaves when I said that they could dance.

Now, you try. Take an object and personify it!

I can't wait to see how creative you can be!!!

Idiom Time!!!!

Okay boys and girls, now it's time to show off your use of idioms. No, I didn't say idiots!!! Remember, idioms mean something other that what the actual words "say". When I say that it is raining cats and dogs, I don't mean that cats and dogs are falling from the sky do I? No, I mean that it is raining really hard. Now, it is your turn. Give me and idiom and tell me what it means.

Ex.) Mrs. Bendall has had a frog in her throat this week. This means that Mrs. Bendall has sounded funny talking all week because she is sick.

Good luck and happy idiom writing!

Alliteration

Good afternoon students!

Today, I want you to blog me your favorite alliteration. Be sure to start your sentence with a capital letter and end it with an end mark.

For example) Tiny Tim turned two today.

I look forward to reading your examples of alliteration.
